May 2023
GLIL Infrastructure has strengthened support for its existing and future portfolio with the appointment of Simon Merriweather as a Senior Adviser within its asset management function, alongside two other senior hires.
Simon has considerable experience within infrastructure asset management. Most recently, he was global head of asset management at Partners Group in Switzerland, and he also brings significant industry experience. Previous roles include being managing director of EDF Energy’s generation assets and Centrica’s Power Generation business. He has also held non-executive director roles on 20 different infrastructure investments across a wide range of sectors.
Simon is joining GLIL’s Asset Management Group – led by head of asset management Colin Simpson – which focuses on active ownership and value creation across the development, construction, commissioning and operations cycle, recognising the role asset management plays in generating value for its members.
Through the Asset Management Group, Simon will support GLIL’s current portfolio of 13 assets, spanning renewable energy and storage, water and wastewater, transport, hospitals and schools.
Colin Simpson, head of asset management, GLIL Infrastructure, said:
“Our members and partners really value our commitment to active stewardship and governance of assets, and our approach to responsible investment practices. Simon’s expertise will help us develop the best approach possible for our portfolio, and ensure we continue to provide members with the long-term benefits of investing in infrastructure.”
